Free Eye Care Outreach Restores Hope Across Bende Federal Constituency

Residents of Bende Federal Constituency have benefitted from a five-day Free Eye Care Medical Outreach aimed at improving access to quality healthcare and addressing vision-related challenges within the constituency.

The medical outreach, which recorded a large turnout of beneficiaries across various communities, provided free eye examinations, consultation services, and corrective eyeglasses to hundreds of residents.

The programme received a major boost with the visit of the Abia State Commissioner for Health alongside the Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya, who both underwent eye examinations during the exercise. The visiting officials expressed satisfaction with the quality of services rendered and commended the professionalism displayed by the medical team.

Speaking during the event, the Honourable Commissioner praised the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that complements government efforts in bringing healthcare closer to the grassroots.

Organisers of the outreach expressed appreciation to the Abia State Ministry of Health for granting approval and institutional support that ensured the successful implementation of the programme.

Special recognition was also given to the medical partners and support organisations, including Precious Sight Foundation, Rebirth Ministries, CAF, and the team of volunteer medical professionals whose dedication and sacrifice contributed to the success of the exercise.

Beneficiaries described the outreach as life-changing, noting that beyond receiving eyeglasses, many residents regained improved vision, renewed confidence, and hope for better daily living.

The initiative reinforces the importance of community-driven healthcare interventions, with organisers reiterating their commitment to sustained humanitarian service and people-centered development across Bende Federal Constituency.
