2027: Umuahia–Ikwuano Stakeholders Pledge 60% Votes for Otti, Hail ‘Transformational’ Leadership

A broad coalition of political leaders, community stakeholders and prominent citizens from Umuahia and Ikwuano Federal Constituency have pledged to deliver no fewer than 60 per cent of votes for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Friday at a grand civic reception held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, in honour of the governor, where speakers took turns to commend what they described as his impactful and reform-driven administration.

Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event and Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Kingsley Anosike, said Governor Otti’s leadership had fundamentally changed the narrative of the state capital.
He described Umuahia’s transformation from a “glorified village” into a rapidly developing city as evidence of purposeful governance.

According to Anosike, the administration’s achievements have restored pride and dignity among residents, adding that the people of the constituency remain unwavering in their support for the governor’s second-term ambition.
Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and member representing Umuahia East State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Augustine Nmeregini, attributed the successes recorded so far to the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

He noted that the synergy has strengthened governance and improved responsiveness to the needs of the people.
In his remarks, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barr. Monday Ubani, said the Otti administration had rekindled hope across Abia through visible and strategic projects.
He pointed to the reconstruction of the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road as a clear demonstration of the governor’s resolve to deliver critical infrastructure without excuses.
Other dignitaries, including Ambassador Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi and a Federal Character Commissioner, High Chief Victor Ikeji, also praised the administration’s strides in key sectors such as education and healthcare, noting that the state has witnessed a significant turnaround under Otti’s leadership.

The stakeholders further highlighted ongoing and proposed landmark projects, including a planned 250-room five-star hotel in Umuahia, as part of broader efforts to reposition the state capital as a hub for investment and tourism.
Responding, Governor Otti reaffirmed his commitment to people-centred governance, stressing that leadership must be anchored on service rather than personal gain.

He assured residents that all ongoing projects would be completed, maintaining that his administration remains focused on delivering sustainable development across all sectors.
The reception underscored a growing wave of political support for the governor, positioning him strongly ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
