Anyaso Pledges Not to Disappoint as Igbere Leader Vows 95% Votes for LP Candidate

The Labour Party (LP) candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has pledged not to disappoint his supporters, following an emotional show of commitment by an Igbere community leader, Chief Okorie Ukonu.
Anyaso gave the assurance on Sunday during a visit to Ukonu to appreciate his passionate appeal to voters during Saturday’s engagement with representatives from the 214 polling units across Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
Ukonu had attracted attention at the gathering when he became emotional while appealing to voters from various communities in Bende to support Anyaso’s political ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Moved by the community leader’s demonstration of loyalty, Anyaso said photographs from the engagement had brought the depth of Ukonu’s commitment to his attention.
“I won’t disappoint you. You have given me a reason to fight harder,” the LP candidate assured him.
Expressing surprise at the level of support, Anyaso added that he had been deeply impressed by Ukonu’s passion, despite not recalling having spoken with him on the telephone before the engagement.

“I can’t even remember speaking with you on the phone before now, yet I have seen the passion you have,” he said.
In his response, Ukonu declared that his decision to support Anyaso predated the recent voter engagement, explaining that he had become committed to the candidate’s political project from the moment he learnt that Anyaso had joined the Labour Party.
“From the day I knew that you had joined the Labour Party, I became so committed to this project. I have a special grace that I don’t follow a failing party,” the community leader stated.
Ukonu expressed confidence in Anyaso’s prospects in Igbere, predicting overwhelming support for the candidate at the polls.
“In this your candidacy, our votes from Igbere will not be less than 95 per cent for this project,” he declared.
He further assured Anyaso that he and other supporters would deploy their efforts towards mobilising voters and securing victory for the LP candidate.
“Be rest assured that anything we can do to ensure victory, we will do it,” Ukonu added.
The community leader also prayed for divine blessings upon Anyaso in appreciation of the visit, declaring, “For this honour done to me, God will honour you.”
Also speaking during the visit, Chief Onuoha Emeremba thanked Anyaso for recognising Ukonu’s support and expressed confidence in the level of backing the candidate would receive from Igbere.
Emeremba pledged to work towards ensuring that the community’s votes supported Anyaso’s candidacy, insisting that the political situation in the area would be different in the forthcoming election.
“What happened before will not happen now. Igbere people are solidly behind you. My mind is made up,” he said.
The visit followed Saturday’s voter engagement, which brought together representatives from polling units across Bende’s 13 wards to discuss the constituency’s political future and Anyaso’s aspiration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development highlights the growing efforts by political stakeholders and community leaders to mobilise grassroots support as the race for the Bende Federal Constituency seat gathers momentum.
