The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has donated a brand-new ambulance to support Primary Health Care Centres and emergency medical services in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
The ambulance was presented at the Bende Local Government Council Headquarters in the presence of political leaders, traditional rulers, healthcare officials and community stakeholders.
Anyaso said the initiative was part of his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and emergency response in Bende, stressing that the vehicle was purchased new to serve residents during medical emergencies.
He also highlighted his past investment in education, recalling that he established a free nursery and primary school in his community about 20 years ago.
The Bende Federal Constituency aspirant further called for the establishment of a major general hospital in Bende, as well as improved federal infrastructure and the rehabilitation of the Umuahia-Bende road.
He pledged that, if elected, his representation would be guided by accountability and transparency in the utilisation of public resources.
Speaking on behalf of the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya-Uche, the Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwakanma, described the donation as a significant contribution to emergency healthcare.
Nwakanma said the ambulance would complement the state government’s efforts to extend emergency medical services to grassroots communities and help save lives.
The Mayor of Bende LGA, Deacon Uwabunkeonye Bassey, also commended the initiative, saying it would complement the state government’s reconstruction of 16 health centres across the local government.
The event also featured the celebration of Anyaso’s 46th birthday, with the Labour Party candidate cutting his birthday cake alongside staff of the Bende Local Government Area.
