President Tinubu Confirms Buhari’s Death, Orders VP Shettima to Escort Late President’s Body from UK

Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the official announcement of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The announcement was made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a statement released from the State House.

According to the statement, President Buhari passed away in London today, July 13, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., after a prolonged battle with illness.

In a swift move to honour his predecessor, President Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel immediately to the United Kingdom to accompany the body of the late leader back to Nigeria.
