In a heartbreaking incident on Saturday evening, no fewer than 14 traders from Isi Gate Market, Umuahia, tragically lost their lives in a road accident while returning from a traditional marriage ceremony in Enugu State.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:45 PM along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

The victims, all local traders from Bonny Street, Umuahia, had traveled to Enugu to celebrate the marriage of one of their fellow traders.

However, disaster struck on their way back when their Toyota Coaster bus collided with a Mercedes truck, resulting in the immediate death of 11 passengers. Three more succumbed to injuries later, leaving several others in critical condition.

The tragic event was confirmed by Franklin Agbakoba, Enugu State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who expressed his condolences to the affected families.
