Otti Promises Steady Power for Umuahia to Boost Business Growth

Governor Alex Chioma Otti has assured residents and the business community that Umuahia will soon enjoy steady electricity supply as part of the state government’s broader strategy to strengthen the business environment and attract investment.

The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while speaking at the Abia Government Meets Business forum held at the International Conference Center Umuahia, where he engaged with entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders in the private sector.

Addressing participants at the event, Otti emphasized that access to stable power remains one of the top priorities of his administration, noting that reliable electricity is crucial for economic development and business expansion across the state.

According to him, improving electricity supply will significantly reduce the cost of doing business, particularly for small and medium-scale enterprises that currently rely heavily on generators to sustain operations.

“Power is a major driver of economic growth. When businesses have stable electricity, their operational costs reduce, productivity increases, and they are able to scale up production,” the governor said.

He noted that the state government is already taking strategic steps to address the long-standing power challenges in the state, adding that the ongoing reforms in the power sector would soon translate into tangible benefits for businesses and residents.

Otti further assured investors that his administration remains committed to creating a conducive business climate by improving infrastructure, strengthening public-private partnerships, and implementing policies that encourage enterprise development.

The Abia Government Meets Business forum brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss investment opportunities, policy reforms, and strategies for driving sustainable economic growth in the state.
