ABIA 2027: ‘We Will Not Return to Egypt,’ Cleric Declares as Speaker Emeruwa Rallies Support for Otti

A revered minister of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Rev. Obinna Nkemjika, has declared that Abians are resolute in sustaining the ongoing transformation in the state, insisting that the people will not “return to Egypt” a metaphor for what he described as Abia’s inglorious past.

Rev. Nkemjika made the assertion during the grand finale of the church’s Easter retreat held at Umuogor, along the Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway, where the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, was in attendance.

Addressing the congregation, the cleric said the people of the state, having “seen the light,” would resist any attempt by detractors to derail the progress recorded under the current administration.

“Abians will not return to Egypt. We will remain in Canaan a land flowing with milk and honey. The Lord will grant good health to our governor and his cabinet to sustain this vision,” he said, expressing confidence that the achievements of the government would endure beyond 2027.

He further declared that no force would undo the gains already made, adding that “victory is assured” in the next electoral cycle.

In her remarks, Mrs. Uchechi Nkemjika commended the administration of Governor Alex Otti, noting that Abia had experienced a rebirth since the government assumed office. She highlighted the prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and clearance of arrears an achievement she admitted many had initially doubted.

Earlier, Speaker Emeruwa described his participation in the Easter programme as a privilege, particularly the opportunity to receive teachings from the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi.

He urged worshippers to internalise the message of the season, emphasising the significance of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.

“The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ remain the ultimate sacrifice and a testament to the power of God,” the Speaker said, calling on Christians to remain steadfast in faith.

Commending the Deeper Life congregation for their devotion, Emeruwa appealed for sustained prayers for the state government, assuring that the welfare of Abians would continue to receive top priority.

He cited the regular payment of workers’ salaries on or before the 28th of every month, the introduction of free and compulsory education, improved healthcare facilities, and ongoing road infrastructure projects as evidence of the administration’s commitment to good governance.

Reflecting on the state’s past, the Speaker noted that Abia had endured “24 years of bondage,” but stressed that the era had come to an end. He warned, however, that forces responsible for the past were regrouping, urging citizens to remain vigilant and united.

He also encouraged eligible voters to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise and secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing it as essential for participation in the 2027 general elections.

“I urge you to obtain your PVCs and resist any attempt to subvert the will of the people,” he said.

As part of his visit, the Speaker presented a support package to the church to aid its ongoing projects and pledged continued engagement with the congregation.
