Aba Indigenes Storm Otti’s Residence, Pledge Loyalty Amid Praise for Infrastructure Drive

Aba indigenes on Sunday paid a solidarity visit to Governor Alex Otti at his country home in Umueyi Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, expressing appreciation for ongoing infrastructure projects and reaffirming their support for his administration.

The delegation, drawn from Aba North and Aba South, comprised traditional rulers, political stakeholders, community leaders, youth representatives, women’s groups and members of the Labour Party.

They said the visit was to thank the governor for what they described as significant progress in road construction and rehabilitation across Aba, the state’s commercial hub.

The group also acknowledged his role in the emergence of the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa.

Addressing the delegation, Governor Otti reiterated his commitment to delivering critical infrastructure and social amenities to Aba, noting his personal connection to the city.

“I was born and raised in Aba. This is home,” the governor said, while assuring residents of continued development efforts.

He commended the people for their support and urged them to sustain their reputation for hospitality and openness. Otti also praised the Speaker, Emeruwa, describing him as “a credible and dependable ally.”

The governor declared that the era of political godfatherism in Abia had ended, stressing that merit and service would define governance in the state.

He further disclosed that contractors handling key road projects, including Uratta and Omuma roads, had been directed to accelerate work.

Earlier, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, who led the delegation, pledged unwavering support for the Otti administration, expressing confidence in the governor’s re-election prospects.
He said the political landscape in Aba had shifted significantly in favour of the Labour Party, citing growing defections from opposition parties.

Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers, the Chairman of Aba North Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Eze Love Nwogu, alongside his Aba South counterpart, HRM Eze V.U. Asonye, commended the governor’s development strides but raised concerns over what they described as the marginalisation of Aba North indigenes in political appointments. They appealed for greater inclusiveness in the distribution of key positions.

The monarchs, however, lauded the administration for rehabilitating dilapidated roads, tackling erosion challenges in the Ovom axis and reviving the Enyimba Hotel.

Other speakers, including Lolo Chidinma Nwogu, Elder Chima Mbama and Chief Charlie Wanyanwu, praised the administration for improving sanitation, waste management and civil service reforms, noting that the changes had repositioned Aba for growth.
They argued that the governor’s performance justifies a second term in office.

In a vote of thanks, the Mayor of Aba South Local Government Area, Chief Anyanwu Obialor, commended the administration’s people-focused policies, saying they had stimulated economic activities and fostered sustainable growth in the city.

He offered prayers for the governor’s continued health and success in office.
