Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his prompt intervention in the worsening erosion crisis threatening lives and property in Uzuakoli, while calling on residents to remain united in support of efforts to tackle the environmental challenge.

Speaking after a well-attended visit to Uzuakoli, Dr. Anyaso expressed deep appreciation to the people of the community for the overwhelming reception and show of solidarity, describing the warm welcome as a demonstration of their commitment to a better future for Bende Federal Constituency.

He also thanked the traditional rulers of Uzuakoli, led by the Ndi Eze, for receiving him at the royal palace and offering prayers, blessings and fatherly counsel ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Anyaso praised Governor Otti for immediately directing the Commissioner for Environment, the Permanent Secretary and a team of engineers from the ministry to inspect the erosion-ravaged areas following his appeal.

According to him, the Governor’s swift action underscores his administration’s commitment to responsive governance and the protection of lives and property across Abia State.

He equally lauded the Commissioner and members of the inspection team for engaging with affected residents, conducting an on-the-spot assessment and assuring the community of government’s resolve to address the environmental threat.

The Labour Party flag bearer, however, cautioned against attempts to politicise the erosion disaster, urging residents to close ranks and support the intervention already initiated by the state government.

“This is not a political issue but a humanitarian and environmental emergency. Our collective interest should be to ensure that the promised intervention is delivered without unnecessary distractions,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of the people, Dr. Anyaso thanked the people of Uzuakoli for their support and prayers, expressing confidence that with unity and government collaboration, the erosion menace would soon be effectively addressed.

He also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the people of Uzuakoli and the progress of Abia State.
