TRAGEDY IN KOGI POLY: Lecturer Collapses, Dies Mid-Lecture, Sparks Campus Anxiety

Students and staff of Kogi State Polytechnic were thrown into mourning on Thursday following the sudden death of a lecturer, Anslem Ojodomo, who reportedly collapsed while delivering a lecture.

The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the institution, comes barely a month after the death of another lecturer, Barnabas Akuba, who passed away in February shortly after completing his PhD.

Sources within the polytechnic confirmed that Ojodomo slumped during a classroom session, causing panic among students उपस्थित at the lecture.

“He suddenly collapsed while addressing the class, throwing the students into confusion,” a source told Vanguard.

A staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed concern over the growing pattern of deaths within the institution, noting that Ojodomo’s passing marks the third such incident in six weeks since the assumption of office by the Rector, Prof. Salihu Sanusi, on February 11.

“It is deeply troubling. Both Anslem and Barnabas died shortly after defending their PhD theses. Anslem was full of life during a meeting earlier in the day.

It is difficult to comprehend how such a vibrant individual is suddenly gone,” the staff member said.

The development has heightened apprehension within the academic community, with many calling for clarity and reassurance from the institution’s authorities.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of Kogi State Polytechnic had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
