WHAT WILL GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI GAIN IN DESTABILISING AN ALREADY DESTABILISED ABIA APC?

The attention of the Labour Party and indeed well-meaning Abians has been drawn to the latest comic press statement by the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the Abia State Government plans to spend N5 billion to destabilise their party.

Ordinarily, such a laughable claim does not deserve a response, but for the purpose of setting the records straight and preventing innocent members of the public from being misled by desperate political propaganda merchants, it has become necessary to respond.

The first and most important question every reasonable Abian should ask is this: Why will Governor Alex Otti or the Abia State Government waste time, energy, or resources trying to destabilise a party that is already hopelessly destabilised from within?

The Abia APC today is a party publicly battling itself on every available platform. A party where confusion, infighting, bitterness, suspicion, and leadership tussles have become the official identity of the organisation.

This is a party that publicly disgraced itself before Nigerians over who truly controls the structure of the party in Abia State.

This is a party where governorship ambition has already torn the camp apart, with different political camps openly at war. Till today, Henry Ikoh is still battling fiercely to reclaim what he believes is his mandate from Eric Opah.

This is equally a party where the Abia South Senatorial ambition has become a daily media warfare between camps loyal to different aspirants, with supporters attacking one another openly on television, radio stations, and social media platforms.

This is a party where many of the so-called leaders are more interested in securing their personal election victory than building a united opposition.

This is a party where many members are merely waiting for election funds to arrive from Abuja so they can share the money and disappear until another election season.

And most unfortunately, this is a party that has gradually become a safe haven for the same political hyenas of the old Abia order whose trademark over the years was to steal, destroy, manipulate elections, impoverish the people, and mortgage the future of the State.

So again, the question remains: What exactly is left for Governor Alex Otti to destabilise in Abia APC?

The truth is simple. APC in Abia State is already suffering from what can best be described as “Election Malpractice Syndrome.”

Because many of them were active players in the dark era of Abia politics where election manipulation, blackmail, bribery, hijack of electoral officers, intimidation, propaganda, magical figures, and political criminality were normalised, they now find it difficult to believe that a government can genuinely focus on governance without desperation for power.

They are still trapped in the old mentality of politics without performance.

Unfortunately for them, Governor Alex Otti is not cut from that old political culture.

Governor Alex Otti is not a desperate politician. He understands the value of public funds and the enormous responsibility entrusted on him by Abians. The same resources APC leaders are imagining would be used to destabilise political opponents are currently being invested in roads, healthcare, schools, security, urban renewal, environmental sanitation, workers’ welfare and economic transformation across Abia State.

This administration is too busy rebuilding Abia State to be distracted by the internal confusion of APC.

This is a government that abolished wasteful political patronage and ended the era where public funds were shared recklessly among political “NDI APATAKWU” under different funny names.

Today, governance in Abia State is driven by prudence, accountability, transparency, and visible results.

Governor Alex Otti is commissioning roads across communities, restoring dignity to civil servants, revamping public institutions, attracting investors, and rebuilding public confidence in governance. That is where the energy and attention of this government are focused not on political comedy theatres.

Let it also be made abundantly clear that Governor Alex Otti is not in any political contest with anyone ahead of 2027. The overwhelming support, acceptance, and goodwill he currently enjoys across the 17 local government areas of Abia State are products of visible performance and transformational leadership.

Abians can see the roads.

Abians can see the projects.

Abians can feel the difference.

Abians can compare the past with the present.

And that is exactly what is giving some opposition figures sleepless nights.

Instead of issuing baseless propaganda press releases daily, the Abia APC should first settle the endless confusion within their house, define who their real leaders are and resolve their internal fights.

Abians deserve serious opposition, not recycled propaganda and fictional allegations.
