The Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Bende Federal Constituency ahead of 2027 general elections, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (Ofuji), has called on residents of the constituency to embrace environmentally responsible practices as the world marks World Environment Day 2026.

In a message commemorating the global event, Anyaso emphasized that the environment remains the foundation of human health, agriculture, economic growth, and sustainable development, stressing that its protection is a collective responsibility.

According to him, many communities across Bende Federal Constituency rely heavily on farming and local markets for their livelihoods.

However, he noted that environmental challenges such as erosion, land degradation, poor waste management, and neglect of ecological resources continue to pose serious threats to farmlands, homes, roads, and sources of income.

The Labour Party standard-bearer urged residents to renew their commitment to safeguarding the environment through practical measures, including tree planting, proper waste disposal, and sustainable land-use practices.

He stated that deliberate and coordinated actions by individuals, communities, and stakeholders would help preserve fertile agricultural lands, protect vulnerable communities from erosion, and promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

“As we commemorate World Environment Day 2026, let us recommit ourselves to protecting our environment for the benefit of present and future generations. Together, we can build a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Bende,” he said.

Anyaso reiterated that environmental sustainability remains essential to the long-term prosperity and well-being of the people, urging all residents to play their part in preserving nature.

“Our Environment, Our Responsibility.” he declared.
