The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso(OFUJI), on Saturday joined family members, friends, political associates, religious leaders and well-wishers to pay his final respect to the late Pastor Mrs. Ihuoma Irene Dike, wife of the Director General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organisation, Pastor Okechukwu Dike.

Pastor Mrs. Ihuoma Irene Dike was laid to rest at her husband’s compound in Amaegbuato, Nkpa, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, following a funeral service attended by people from different walks of life who gathered to mourn with the Dike family and honour the memory of the deceased.

Dr. Chima Anyaso, who had earlier attended the Service of Songs held in honour of the deceased on Friday night, said the news of her passing came to him as a shock, particularly because she was the wife of a close associate and a key member of his campaign organisation.

The late Pastor Mrs. Ihuoma Irene Dike passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 51, leaving behind her family, loved ones and a community that gathered to bid her farewell.

Speaking during the funeral, Dr. Anyaso expressed his condolences to Pastor Okechukwu Dike and the entire family, urging them to remain strong and trust in God during the difficult period.

He acknowledged that losing a loved one is one of life’s most painful experiences, stressing that the family needed the support, prayers and encouragement of everyone around them at such a moment.

Dr. Anyaso also used the occasion to recognise the exceptional commitment of Pastor Okechukwu Dike to the OFUJI political project, particularly during a period when he was personally dealing with the loss of his wife.

According to him, Pastor Dike’s commitment demonstrated a level of dedication that deserved commendation.

“Even in the midst of this unfortunate situation, he stood his ground and even performed more than we expected.”

Dr. Anyaso encouraged the Campaign Director General to remain steadfast and continue to uphold the values he believes in, assuring him that his commitment and sacrifices would not go unnoticed.

“Continue to be good, God will continue to bless you.”

The Labour Party candidate further used the occasion to speak about the importance of character, particularly for individuals seeking to serve the public.

He maintained that while material possessions may come and go, a person’s character remains one of the most enduring measures of his or her worth.

“We live in a world when money is no longer valuable. The most valuable quality is character.”

Dr. Anyaso said his confidence in his own character was one of the reasons he remained committed to his political journey, noting that public service should be built on integrity rather than the pursuit of personal wealth.

“That is why as I campaign, my opponent will never find out anything against me,” he concluded.

He prayed that God would accept the soul of the deceased and grant the Dike family the strength to cope with the loss.

In a vote of thanks, Pastor Dike appreciated all who stood with his Family during their moment of grief.
