Abia LP hails new NWC, backs Usman-led Leadership with strong support

The Abia State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has congratulated the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC), led by Senator Nenadi Usman as National Chairman and Hon. Iheanacho Obioma as National Secretary, describing their emergence as a turning point in the party’s drive for unity, stability, and national expansion.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the state chapter said the new leadership comes at a critical time and offers a strategic opportunity to consolidate the party’s growing influence across the country.

The party also paid tribute to the outgoing interim leadership, commending what it termed their “courageous and strategic efforts” in steering the party through a challenging period marked by internal disputes and political uncertainties.

Speaking with journalists, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, expressed confidence in the ability of the new NWC to reposition the party for future electoral successes.

He noted that the leadership transition presents a fresh platform to strengthen party structures, deepen internal democracy, and advance the party’s commitment to people-oriented governance nationwide.

Azubuike assured the national leadership of the Abia chapter’s unwavering support, emphasizing that the state would continue to serve as a stronghold of the party and a model for progressive governance.

“Our commitment in Abia remains total. We will collaborate closely with the national leadership to ensure that the vision and objectives of the Labour Party are achieved and sustained. Abia will continue to play a strategic role in the growth and expansion of the party,” he said.

The chairman further lauded Governor Alex Otti for his steadfast commitment to the Labour Party, describing him as a leading ambassador whose leadership has significantly boosted the party’s popularity and acceptance.

He also commended party faithful across the state for their resilience and loyalty, noting that their dedication has been instrumental in maintaining unity within the party despite previous challenges.
