APC Disowns Ogah Over Alleged Support for Labour Party Ahead of 2027 Poll

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from comments allegedly made by Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah in which he reportedly declared support for the Labour Party in the state’s 2027 governorship election.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC said its attention was drawn to remarks credited to Ogah during a Labour Party-organised event in Isuikwuato, where he allegedly stated that despite being a member of the APC, he would back the Labour Party to win the Abia governorship contest in 2027.

The party described the reported comments as reckless and irresponsible, stressing that they do not reflect the position, ideals or aspirations of the APC in Abia State.

According to the statement, the development did not come as a surprise to the party, noting that there had been growing suspicions that Ogah was operating as a mole within its ranks.

Aguoru disclosed that this suspicion informed the party’s decision, taken a few days ago, to suspend Ogah from all its communication platforms, including official WhatsApp groups and other internal chatrooms.

The Abia APC maintained that it remains united and focused under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and is determined to secure victories in the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly elections in 2027.

The party further condemned what it described as Ogah’s anti-party posture and said it would immediately activate its disciplinary procedures to investigate the matter and determine appropriate sanctions.

It therefore urged party members and the people of Abia State to disregard what it called an act of political sabotage.

The APC reiterated that it would not tolerate individuals who undermine the party from within, stressing that it remains resolute and prepared to take over power in the state and restore effective governance.

The statement added that the party is committed to reclaiming the Abia State Government House and returning it from Nvosi to Umuahia, the state capital.
