Fathers’ Day: Okorie Urges Christians to Back Credible Leaders Ahead of 2027 general elections

The Chairman of Bende Youths’ Consultative Forum and former Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Chief Emenike Okorie, has called on Catholic men and Christians across the country to actively support credible and God-fearing leaders in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

Okorie made the appeal while speaking as Chairman at the Fathers’ Sunday celebration organised by the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) of St. Nicholas Parish, Umuhu Ezechi, in Bende LGA of Abia State.

In his address, he stressed the need for greater Christian participation in politics, noting that good governance can only be achieved when competent and morally upright individuals are elected into positions of authority.

Quoting the biblical injunction, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice,” Okorie cautioned against political apathy among Christians, warning that indifference often paves the way for unqualified leaders to dominate the political space.

He urged eligible voters to take responsibility for the quality of leadership by making informed choices at the polls, highlighting the importance of active civic engagement.

Okorie particularly pointed to Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso as an example of a credible leader deserving of public trust and support, encouraging the faithful to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate fully in the electoral process.

He further charged Catholic men and the wider Christian community to promote values-driven leadership by supporting candidates with integrity, compassion, and a proven commitment to the welfare of the people.

The Fathers’ Sunday celebration drew members of the Catholic Men Organisation and other parishioners, underscoring the role of faith-based groups in shaping civic responsibility and national development.
