Nigeria’s Hardship Caused by Bad Leadership, Says Mao Ohuabunwa

Former Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District and factional Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith in God despite the prevailing hardship and insecurity in the country.

Ohuabunwa made the call during a worship service at Glorious Royal Rock Liberation Assembly in Umuahia, Abia State, where he said every true child of God must trust in God rather than in man, irrespective of the challenges confronting them.

The former lawmaker blamed Nigeria’s current economic and security challenges on poor leadership and bad governance, describing the situation as man-made.

According to him, Nigeria is abundantly blessed with natural and human resources capable of transforming the nation, but leadership failure has continued to subject citizens to untold suffering.

He, however, encouraged Christians to remain resolute in prayer and continue seeking divine intervention for positive change and responsible leadership in the country.

Ohuabunwa also commended the leadership of Glorious Royal Rock Liberation Assembly for what he described as their unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel and impacting lives positively.

The PDP chieftain disclosed that he deliberately chose to worship at the church and noted that the service coincided with his birthday celebration on May 24.

He thanked God for preserving his life and granting him another year, while urging members of the church and well-meaning Nigerians to join him in appreciating God for His faithfulness.

The seasoned politician further appreciated Pastor Okechukwu Dike, whom he described as a confidant and trusted ally, for directing him to “a living church where the Spirit of God dwells abundantly.”

Pastor Okechukwu Dike, in his remarks, described Senator Ohuabunwa as his political mentor and a very senior friend, and thanked him for finding time to worship with members of the church.

Earlier in his sermon titled, “You Can Still Make It in Life,” with text taken from Philippians 2:14-15, Pastor Okechukwu Dike urged Christians to anchor their faith firmly in God, warning that murmuring in difficult times could hinder divine intervention.

He noted that wholehearted trust in God and joyful dependence on Him would attract mercy and speedy answers to prayers.

Also speaking, the Lead Pastor of Glorious Royal Rock Liberation Assembly, Pastor Ifeanyi Mezue, encouraged Christians not to allow challenges overwhelm them but to commit their burdens to God, who rules in the affairs of men.

Pastor Mezue lamented that despite Nigeria’s enormous blessings, bad leadership and poor governance remained the nation’s greatest setback.

He further accused present-day leaders of being insensitive to the sufferings of ordinary Nigerians and urged Christians across the country not to relent in prayers for national transformation.

The highlight of the service was a special birthday prayer session held in honour of Senator Ohuabunwa by Pastor Mezue.

Several politicians and notable personalities attended the service alongside the former senator, including former Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Barr. Gab Igboko, among other dignitaries.
