2027: Igbere Traditional Rulers, Political Stakeholders Endorse Anyaso for Bende Reps Seat

The Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (Ofuji), has secured a major political boost ahead of the 2027 general elections following his endorsement by the Igbere Traditional Institution and the Igbere Political Stakeholders.

The endorsement came during a high-level consultation held at the palace of the Chairman of the Abia North Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu, OFR, Ofufe I of Amofufe, Igbere, where traditional rulers, political leaders and community stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the forthcoming House of Representatives election.

Also present at the meeting were HRM Eze Okorie N. Chukwu, Ezeogo A.E. Ude, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, the Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya, Secretary of the Igbere Political Stakeholders, Chief Sunday Okorie, Chairman of the group, Ezeogo Anyim Eke, councillors, members of the Chima Anyaso Foundation and other prominent leaders from Bende.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Chairman of the Igbere Political Stakeholders, Ezeogo Anyim Eke, said the meeting was convened to formally consult the traditional institution on Dr. Anyaso’s aspiration and seek its blessing ahead of the 2027 polls.

In his address, HRM Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu reaffirmed the existence of a longstanding zoning arrangement within Bende Federal Constituency, explaining that there was a documented agreement providing that after the completion of two terms by the current lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the House of Representatives seat should rotate from Bende South to Bende North (Umunna) in 2027.

The monarch also commended Governor Alex Otti for what he described as his developmental strides across Abia State, expressing confidence that Dr. Anyaso, whom he said shares the governor’s vision of service-driven leadership, possesses the capacity to provide effective and impactful representation for the constituency.

Supporting the position, HRM Eze Okorie N. Chukwu said he was aware of the zoning agreement and maintained that Dr. Anyaso’s track record in philanthropy, leadership and community development had distinguished him as a worthy aspirant.

Director-General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Council, Pastor Okechukwu Dike (Eriwe), lauded the royal fathers and the Igbere Political Stakeholders for upholding the principles of equity, fairness and justice. He stressed that the people of Ikwuisii remained committed to respecting the zoning arrangement, insisting that the time had come for Bende North to produce the next federal lawmaker.

He described Dr. Anyaso as a credible, widely accepted and unifying candidate capable of delivering quality representation to the people of Bende Federal Constituency.

Also speaking, Hon. Chukwuemeka Ogbonna commended the traditional rulers and stakeholders for rallying behind what he described as the best candidate for the constituency, while cautioning against actions capable of frustrating the collective aspiration of the people.

Responding, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers, political stakeholders, councillors, members of the Chima Anyaso Foundation and other leaders for the confidence reposed in him.

He described the royal blessing and endorsement as a strong source of encouragement, declaring that the consultation marked the beginning of his journey towards victory in the 2027 election.

Anyaso pledged to justify the confidence placed in him by providing purposeful, inclusive and people-oriented representation if elected.

Earlier, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, who delivered the vote of thanks, appreciated the royal fathers for their blessings and prayers, while commending the Igbere Political Stakeholders for their unwavering support for Dr. Anyaso’s aspiration.

The highlight of the event was the traditional Ima Nzu ceremony performed on Dr. Anyaso, symbolising the royal fathers’ prayers, goodwill and endorsement as he prepares for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
