Arondizuogu Community in Aba Ignites Countdown to Ikeji Festival

The Arondizuogu community in Aba, Abia State, has commenced its pre-Ikeji festival celebrations, marking the start of activities leading to one of its most significant cultural events.

The vibrant gathering attracted indigenes and visitors from various communities, featuring a rich display of masquerades, traditional music, and cultural dances that displayed the community’s heritage.

The pre-Ikeji festival, held annually in Aba, Lagos State and other parts of the country and across the globe where indigenes of the Famous Community Arondizuogu, are residents serves as a precursor to the main Ikeji festival slated to hold from April 11th -14th 2026 Arondizuogu Community in Ideato North L.G. A in Imo State, Nigeria.

This iconic  cultural celebration known for drawing illustrious sons and daughters of the renowned community across the globe home including tourists to come to witness the symbolic event.

It provides an avenue for the people of Arondizuogu to showcase their history, values, and enduring traditions.

Speaking during the event, the chief host, Dike Nwa Mazi, expressed appreciation to members of the community for their turnout and active participation. He called on indigenes and cultural enthusiasts to fully support the forthcoming main festival, describing it as a platform to project their rich heritage to a wider audience.

A major highlight of the celebration was the appearance of various masquerades, including the energetic Aka Eze Igwe and the widely admired Omo Darkness, alongside several others. Each performance reflected unique storytelling elements rooted in the community’s cultural identity, captivating spectators throughout the event.

The occasion also fostered unity and social interaction, as attendees were treated to an array of traditional delicacies, refreshments, and music, reinforcing the communal spirit of the people.

In his remarks, a prominent community figure, Ikpoeze I of Arondizuogu (Ebigi Ebigi), assured visitors of a warm reception during the main festival. He noted that the community is fully prepared to host guests, offering food, entertainment, and a memorable cultural experience.

With the success of the pre-festival activities, anticipation is building for the main Ikeji festival, which is expected to be a grander celebration of Arondizuogu’s cultural pride.
