The Chima Anyaso Campaign Council has visited communities ravaged by the recent flooding in Ugwueke, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, to express solidarity with victims and commiserate with a family that lost a loved one in the disaster.
The delegation, led by the Director-General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organisation, Pastor Dike Okechukwu, toured several affected communities to assess the extent of the devastation and convey the sympathy of the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, to victims of the flood.
The visit followed torrential rainfall that caused extensive flooding in parts of Ugwueke, destroying homes, farmlands, businesses and personal property, while displacing several residents.
The disaster also claimed the life of a 37-year-old trader, identified as Ejiuwa, who was reportedly caught in the flood while returning from the market.
At Amaokai Autonomous Community, the delegation visited the family of the deceased to offer condolences and commiserate with them over their loss. Members of the team prayed for God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
The delegation subsequently proceeded to Etiti Autonomous Community, where it interacted with residents whose homes, businesses, investments and personal belongings were destroyed by the flood.
The team inspected some of the affected areas and listened to residents recount the devastating impact of the disaster on their families and livelihoods.

The delegation also visited Amaeze Autonomous Community, where it met with victims and assessed some of the areas affected by the flooding.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Pastor Okechukwu assured the affected residents that they would not be abandoned in their moment of distress.
He said the Labour Party and Dr. Anyaso would continue to identify with the people, stressing that genuine leadership should extend beyond political activities to moments when communities are confronted with tragedy.
«“We want the families and communities affected by this unfortunate disaster to know that they are not alone. We share in your grief and understand the pain of losing a loved one, homes, investments and properties that took years of sacrifice to build.»
«“We encourage you not to lose hope because of what has happened. The Labour Party will continue to stand by the people of Ugwueke, not only in moments of celebration but also in difficult times such as this.»
«“We are here today because your pain is our pain, and we will continue to identify with you as you begin the process of rebuilding your lives,” he said.»
Okechukwu further conveyed Dr. Anyaso’s sympathy to the bereaved family and other victims, praying for comfort for those who lost loved ones and strength for families whose properties and means of livelihood were destroyed.
He described the visit as an expression of solidarity, noting that beyond politics, moments of tragedy require compassion, empathy and collective support for affected families and communities.
